Description:
Feedback from Andreas Biehn @andreas.biehn
OpenSCENARIO is a format for describing dynamic content in driving simulation applications. We do not see to what extent the positioning and specification of sensors has an impact on the dynamic behavior of scenario participants. On the contrary, it was always a concern of the OpenSCENARIO partners to separate the system under test and its properties from the description of the scenario. Scenarios become less interchangeable if they contain properties that are specific to the system under test, e.g. for an NCAP scenario it does not matter whether the vehicle is equipped with only cameras or also with RADAR sensors. Also, OpenSCENARIO will never be able to contain an even remotely complete specification of sensors. In the present proposal, elementary parameters such as a sensor range are missing, other parameters unnecessarily restrict the sensor configuration, e.g. to a symmetrical FOV.
