how the tool can compute the get_s_coord or get_t_coord without route_point?

Hi I just wonder isn't physical_object actor should contains var route_point: route_point in order to compute these 2 pre defined methods? what about the parameter "route_type: on_route_type" - can someone elaborate regarding it?
