Clarify RouteStrategy behavior for Waypoints in Routes
Describe the feature
I receive a lot of questions on the two different navigation options (Route
/Trajectory
) and the implications on the resulting navigation. What seems to cause a lot of confusion is the fact that the interpolation between waypoints is left up to the simulator, particularly the role played by RouteStrategy and the implication on waypoint selection.
Describe the solution you would like
I think we need to provide some clearer examples that show the differences between the navigation approaches and also help clarify RouteStrategy:
- Using a
Route
with very few waypoints and how different implementations can lead to different routes - Using a very concrete
Route
with very manyWaypoint
s (i.e. a recording) - comments on how, if at all, this differs to a trajectory that is being followed exactly -
Trajectory
with exact following -
Trajectory
as guidance - comments on how this differs to aRoute
with fewWaypoint
s
